Learn about Chester

Chester Township is located just west of New York City in Morris County, New Jersey. The town is known for its large tracts of land that have remained undeveloped or that are used for farming. The township is neither urban nor rural. It is a place that has been filling up in recent years with upscale professionals who work in NYC and want to make a home in a quiet and safe community.

Indeed, Chester is one of the highest-income communities in New Jersey, with a median household income of $160,625. The city has many Victorian homes that contain large lots of land. Residents enjoy the many craft fairs and house torus during the Christmas season. In the summer, there are jazz and arts festivals in the park downtown.

Chester is located in the New Jersey Highlands. Most of the land is part of the Highlands Preservation Area. Chester attracts what is called agritourism. It has cultivated its reputation for preserving old farmhouses and preserving the land attached to them.

The town also contains many wonderful parks, including:

1. Chubb Park

Here skating and sledding can be enjoyed.

2. Hacklebarney State Park

This is one of the best areas in the state for trout fishing.

3. Black River Fish

Here you can fish, hunt, canoe, hike, and ski in the winter.

4. Highlands Ridge Park

This is more of a historic site in that it contains the now-defunct Bell Laboratories Outside Research Lab.

If you live in New York City or intend to go there for work, you may be looking for a calmer and more relaxing place to lay your head. The houses in Chester are a prime real estate investment opportunity. The value of such property will only go up as the town continues to attract attention and investment from professionals working in the city.
