10 Reasons You Should Make Fort Lee Home

When people think of the Golden Age of Hollywood, most locations they think of would be…well, in Hollywood. Believe it or not, there is a very strong New Jersey tie to the entertainment industry’s cornerstone history—and it can be found in Fort Lee.

Once home to a major motion picture studio that housed actors like Laurel and Hardy, Fort Lee is now primarily known as New Jersey’s last stop before you hit the George Washington Bridge. It’s also getting a reputation for being one of the best places to live in New Jersey.

People who love an elegant urban vibe are going to enjoy Fort Lee, but we don’t need to tell you that. This list of reasons to move there will do it for you.

People who are major fans of healthy, freshly-cooked food are going to love living here simply due to the fact that there are so many different restaurants that cater to the diet-friendly crowd.

Asian cuisine, in particular, is hot here. If you love sushi, egg foo young, or good bulgogi, you’re going to be in luck.

2. The area is famous for being safe.

When most people think of a big city, they tend to think of high crime rates and rampant theft. Fort Lee flies in the face of a typical “big city” crime rate by having a surprisingly active police force and an excellent neighborhood safety program.

The vast majority of Fort Lee residents feel totally safe taking a walk around town at night, and who can blame them? The streets are so well-lit, and law enforcement remains friendly.

3. The iPic Theater is amazing.

4. The public transportation is incredibly well-connected.

In most parts of the country, a car is a must-have if you want to get around. This isn’t the case in Fort Lee, many thanks to their hyper-connected public transportation setup. Taking a trip to New York City is a cinch thanks to the jitney buses that arrive every 15 minutes throughout the city.

Want to head deeper into New Jersey? Not a problem. NJ Transit also happens to have busses that bring to just about everywhere nearby.

5. Schools here are amazing.

Considering that the majority of Fort Lee families are up-and-coming professionals, it’s not surprising that this city has some of the best schools in the state. High rated teachers, a positive work environment, plus ample club choices mean that you can give your kids a future they deserve by living here.

6. If you’re a fan of fitness, you’ll adore Fort Lee.

Maybe it’s the Hollywood influence, or maybe it’s the fact that the roads here are designed to be bike-able, but whatever it is, Fort Lee is a fitness hotspot. Multiple bicycle clubs exist within city limits, races are a regular occurrence, and gyms can be found on just about every corner.

You don’t need to spend money to get into the fitness scene here. The town also regularly hosts yoga in nearby parks to help encourage people to get fit.

Fort Lee tends to stand out when it comes to the actual design of homes, especially when it comes to the more modern apartments and condominiums that dot the skyline. Everything is done up in a modern fashion, and most buildings are equipped with the latest features.

Granite countertops? Of course. Brand new tiled bathrooms? You betcha. It’s par for the course here.

8. Nightlife in Fort Lee is uniquely entertaining.

Most nightclubs are rather annoying at times. The music is often too loud, people drink way too much, and sometimes, fights break out. That’s why a lot of people tend to prefer going out in Fort Lee instead.

Because of the area’s upscale clients, it’s highly unusual to see venues have rough crowds here. Though the clients all tend to be upscale, there are tons of different ways to enjoy the nightlife here—karaoke bars, techno lounges, beer gardens…There’s something for everyone here.

9. The views are amazing.

If you want to feel like a member of the state’s elite, all you have to do is take a look out the window. Most high-rise buildings have a direct view of the George Washington Bridge and the Hudson River.

When you live in here, you have one of the closest views of Manhattan in New Jersey. No matter how many times you see that view, you’ll always find it to be breathtaking. There are no other words for it.

10. The commute to NYC literally cannot be shorter.

At night, it’s possible to drive to Manhattan in a matter of 15 minutes or less depending on your exact destination. That’s unheard of for any other part of the state—even for places like Jersey City.
