New Jersey’s Best Towns For Singles

Multiple studies confirmed it: New York City is one of the worst cities for single people. If you’re looking for love, it might be time to give the Big Apple a break and take a look at neighboring areas. Though New Jersey might have a reputation for having abrasive locals, the truth is that the Garden State is home to some of the best towns for singles.

Statistically, you have a better chance of finding love in New Jersey than you do in New York City. So, where should you go? What places are great for singles that want to get hitched? According to surveys and studies, these are the best NJ towns for singles to live…and mingle!

Hoboken

When you say you live in Hoboken, it’s hard to avoid sounding like you’re bragging. This is a city that is filled to the brim with young professionals who are working hard to become the best they can be. If you’re a fan of upscale, sophisticated, and corporate types, you’re going to find a lovely home here.

The city boasts a huge population of college-educated individuals, as well as quite a few notable singles’ bars. Nightlife is poppin’ here, so you’re never going to be too far away from finding a new date location. To make matters even more attractive, around 40 percent of Hoboken residents never married. That’s some serious selection!

Jersey City

Jersey City is one of the most rapidly gentrifying cities in America, and for singles, that’s a great thing. That means that you can link up with people who might just be the next big thing while you save on rent.

With around 24 percent of all its 260,000 people currently single, it’s safe to say that you’re going to have plenty of people to choose from if you decide to move to Jersey City. That’s excellent news, considering how incredibly lively the nightlife and restaurant scenes are here.

Princeton

Who wouldn’t want to date someone with an Ivy League education? If you’re one of the many people who love the idea of getting down with an intellectual, this world-famous college town will be a great place to search for love. After all, you won’t have to worry about any lack of educated bachelors here!

Approximately 34 percent of residents in this area are single—one of the highest percentages in the state. That, of course, could be attributed to it being a college town. However, there’s nothing wrong with getting a sexy Master’s Degree student, is there?

Morristown

If you’re young or just young-ish, love the idea of finding an educated partner, but don’t love Princeton’s vibe, there’s another option you can choose. Morristown is one of the more popular places for singles to live, and it has a similar (yet more diverse) crowd.

A good 21 percent of all locals are single here. Since there are several colleges within driving distance, it’s safe to say that you can find someone who’s educated, youthful, and looking for the one to settle down with here.

New Brunswick

Known for being home to Rutgers University’s main campus, New Brunswick is a perennially youthful and nightlife-friendly city. There’s plenty to do here, and that includes going to singles’ meetups.

Most of the population here are students and recent grads, which means that you can count on finding an educated partner here. Because it’s a majority-student town, a jaw-dropping 76 percent of the population is single. Now, that’s some good chances!

Red Bank

Anyone who’s watched Dogma or Comic Book Men already know that Red Bank has a claim to fame as Silent Bob’s hometown—not to mention being the backdrop of several different movies and TV shows. Don’t let the glitzy reputation fool you, though. This place is a wonderful place to meet someone.

A big singles’ population, proximity to plenty of night clubs, and a highly diverse crowd make this Jersey Shore location a lot more attractive than many other hotspots. Oh, and the percentage of singles here are sky-high, at a whopping 68 percent!

Asbury Park

Asbury Park is one of the hottest tourist spots in the Jersey Shore, thanks to its boardwalk, Convention Hall, shopping centers, and legendary nightlife venues. If you love the idea of going to a different venue every date night, then you’re going to enjoy living in this area.

The good thing about Asbury Park is that it’s a remarkably youthful shore town, which also means that you can expect a decent amount of singles there. Over 70 percent of the population is single, and yes, it’s super LGBT-friendly here!

So, if you’re okay with a little bit of tourist traffic during the summer, give this town a try.

Newark

Most people would balk at considering moving here due to Newark’s reputation. However, hear us out. The city has been making huge strides in crime rate reduction, has brand new luxury lofts, and also has a thriving young professionals community. Besides, its nightlife is fairly popping, and a trip to NYC is literally a train ride away.

The big draw with a Newark home is the high population of singles. Seventy-two percent of residents here are single, which makes it one of the biggest hotspots for people who want a statistically higher chance of finding someone who wants to settle down.

Choosing The Right Town For You

If you are looking to settle down and finding “the One” is a priority for you, it’s important to remember that like attracts like. To maximize the chances of finding someone who truly connects with you, you need to choose a location that has people with a similar lifestyle to you.

With that said, each of these towns offers its own unique take on what it means to be a sexy single. It’s up to you to decide which one will be the best pick for you.
