Chester is located in the New Jersey Highlands. Most of the land is part of the Highlands Preservation Area. Chester attracts what is called agritourism. It has cultivated its reputation for preserving old farmhouses and preserving the land attached to them.

The town also contains many wonderful parks, including:

1. Chubb Park

Here skating and sledding can be enjoyed.

2. Hacklebarney State Park

This is one of the best areas in the state for trout fishing.

3. Black River Fish

Here you can fish, hunt, canoe, hike, and ski in the winter.

4. Highlands Ridge Park

This is more of a historic site in that it contains the now-defunct Bell Laboratories Outside Research Lab.

If you live in New York City or intend to go there for work, you may be looking for a calmer and more relaxing place to lay your head. The houses in Chester are a prime real estate investment opportunity. The value of such property will only go up as the town continues to attract attention and investment from professionals working in the city.
