Scotch Plains is a township in Union County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the township’s population was 23,510, reflecting an increase of 778 (+3.4%) from the 22,732 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 1,572 (+7.4%) from the 21,160 counted in 1990.
Scotch Plains is a beautiful township in Union County, New Jersey home to 24,630 residents living in a total land area of 9.05 square miles. The town is bordered by several other municipalities including Fanwood and Plainfield to the southeast and Mountainside and Westfield to the northeast.
There are two nature reserves in the area – Watchung Reservation to the north and the Ash Brook Reservation to the south. These forested areas provide ample opportunities for outdoor adventures through their many nature trails.
There are several residential neighborhoods throughout the northern and southern parts of the Scotch Plains Township. The central and northern parts of town typically feature suburban districts that have single-family homes and townhouses. These include the older home models in the area that have the classic wooden panel exteriors. Newer home developments are also available offering beautifully designed houses that come in three to five-bedroom layouts. The southern part of the community is where you will find the more affluent subdivisions in the area.
